Getting to the Big Dance is never easy. But some schools have it harder than others.
And then there's Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
You may remember the Golden Lions as the team that started 0-11 thanks to a brutal non-conference schedule that had them play every game on the road against major-conference schools.
Well, turns out that tough schedule paid off. APB (17-15) finished second in the Southwestern Athletic Conference regular season, then outlasted Texas Southern in the conference championship for the league's automatic berth.
Think that autobid means a lot? It's even better in this case.
"This means a lot for our school and our fans," UAPB coach George Ivory said afterward. "We worked all year to get to nd now we can always brag that at least for one year, we got to The Dance."
Take a bow fellas, You earned it.
