Final bracket projections

Da'Sean Butler and West Virginia earned that final No. 1 seed.

Are you in, or are you out?

Virginia Tech, Illinois, Utah State, UTEP, and Florida are all wondering what their NCAA tournament fate holds. Minnesota and Mississippi State face similar nerve-racking afternoons without wins in the SEC and Big Ten conference championship games on Sunday.

Those seven schools figure to be the toughest decisions when the NCAA tournament selection committee turns in its official men's bracket today just before 6 p.m. ET.

But today's your lucky day. Dave Ommen has answers – or at least one final projection.

The Illini and Hokies are out. Utah State, UTEP and Florida are in. Minnesota's in, even if it loses to Ohio State. Mississippi State faces must-win game against Kentucky. If the Bulldogs lose, they're out.

As for the No. 1 seeds, West Virginia's 60-58 win against Georgetown in the Big East championship will make the Mountaineers the final No. 1 seed, along with Kansas, Kentucky and Syracuse.  They have two more victories (18 total) than Duke against teams in the Top 100 of the RPI, and have been more consistent than Ohio State.

But you'll find all that and more in Dave's projections below. As always, check out Dave's site, BRACKETVille, for more, including all the key wins and losses for each team and which teams are on the bubble.

Note: Teams in CAPS are projected as the automatic bid unless the team generally goes by an abbreviation (VCU, BYU, etc). Records against D-I teams only.

NOTES on the BRACKET: Kansas remains the No. 1 overall seed – followed by Kentucky, Syracuse and West Virginia.  Syracuse hosts the play-in game because it's a Friday-Sunday site (Buffalo).  It would be Midwest vs. West | East vs. South.
