Updated bracket projections

The Big East placed eight teams in the 2008 NCAA tournament, the most ever from one conference.

If the season ended today, we'd be headed for a repeat.

The latest tourney projections from Dave Ommen have eight Big East teams in the Big Dance: Cincy, Georgetown, Louisville, Marquette, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Villanova and West Virginia. The Bearcats were the last team in, so that could change, but South Florida, Notre Dame and Seton Hall are on the bubble.

(UPDATE: Figures that UConn would beat 'Nova on Monday night. Now the Huskies are back on the bubble talk.)

Safe to say those conference coaches aren't kidding when they talk about the Big East's depth.

What's the rest of the bracket look like? Let's turn to Dave's latest projections. His bracket is below, with some explanations.

As always, check out his site, BRACKETVille, for more, including all the key wins and losses for each team and which teams are on the bubble.

Note: Teams in CAPS are projected as the automatic bid unless the team generally goes by an abbreviation (VCU, BYU, etc).

Next update: Monday, February 22.
